This vintage Taznakht Moroccan rug features three geometric medallions arranged along a dark field. Rose pink, red and slate gray create contrast through the center, while ivory, ochre and blue details connect the medallions to the surrounding borders.
The upper medallion has a rose-pink center enclosed by angular ochre and ivory outlines. A corresponding red medallion anchors the lower section. Both contain small striped ornaments, fine zigzag lines and hooked details that give their interiors a richly patterned appearance.
Between them, a smaller slate-gray medallion frames a multicolored geometric rosette. Stepped edges and delicate surrounding ornaments distinguish this central section from the larger medallions above and below. Additional angular motifs decorate the dark field at both ends.
A broad ivory border surrounds the composition with linked diamond shapes and curling burgundy forms. Blue and ochre accents add definition to these repeating motifs, while narrow patterned guard bands frame the outer edges. Golden fringe finishes one end.
Taznakht, in Morocco’s Ouarzazate province, is known for its Amazigh weaving heritage. The region’s handmade rugs are celebrated for expressive colors, geometric designs and intricate ornament.
Hand-knotted and measuring 4 ft 7 in × 7 ft 8 in, this vintage Taznakht Moroccan rug suits a bedroom, study or compact seating area. Its dark field pairs well with light upholstery and natural wood, allowing the colorful medallions and ivory border to stand out.

Care Instructions
Vacuum gently without a rotating brush, avoiding the fringe. Blot spills promptly with a clean, dry cloth. Consult a professional rug cleaner for deeper cleaning. A suitable rug pad is recommended.
Colors may vary slightly depending on lighting and screen settings.
1. Picking the Right Rug
Material Matters: Wool offers durability and natural stain resistance. Silk adds sheen and fineness. If your space gets a lot of foot traffic, go for harder-wearing weaves.
Size & Scale: Bigger is better — a rug that’s too small makes a room look disjointed. Let your furniture anchor the edges.
Pile & Weave: Flat-weave rugs lie low and are easier to clean; longer pile gives softness and depth but needs more upkeep.
2. Underlay & Placement
Place a good pad underneath: it prevents slipping, insulates sound, and extends rug life.
Rotate your rug every few months to even out wear and sun-fading.
3. Cleaning & Maintenance
- Vacuum regularly (without beater brush on delicate fibers).
- Blot spills immediately with a clean cloth; avoid rubbing.
- For deeper cleaning, use a mild detergent or get professional care.
- Avoid placing rugs in direct, harsh sunlight — UV will fade colors over time.
4. What to Expect Over Time
Natural fibers will mellow slightly with age — minor shedding is normal in the first few months.
Perfect symmetry and exact color match to digital images can vary; your rug is handmade, expect uniqueness.
